Supply Chain Responsibility
Symantec promotes responsible operation not only in our own operations, but also throughout our supply chain. Symantec’s global supply chain, which includes activities related to the manufacturing and transportation of Symantec’s physical products, contains 22 Tier 1 (major) suppliers. Our oversight includes the sourcing of raw materials as well as the selection and management of suppliers that assemble and ship our products. We are committed to manufacture and fulfill products that meet the demand of our customers and partners with a strong focus on quality, corporate social responsibility and operational efficiencies.
We are committed to progressively aligning our own operations with the provisions of the Responsible Business Alliance Code of Conduct (RBA) and to supporting and encouraging our own Tier 1 suppliers to do the same. The RBA code outlines Symantec's expectations regarding labor conditions and the protection of labor rights, prohibits child labor and forced or compulsory labor, and promotes environmental and ethical practices.

Symantec is a full member of the RBA. Full RBA membership reflects our goal of continuous improvement. To date, 56 percent of our Tier 1 Product suppliers have agreed to our requirements, completed the Self-Assessment Questionnaire, and shared their results. Our aim is to have 100 percent completion by end of FY19.
Our Procurement Code of Conduct, which is closely aligned with the RBA Code of Conduct continues as Symantec’s code of conduct for the rest of our supply chain (non-Tier 1 suppliers).
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) adopted a rule under Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that requires companies to disclose whether the products they manufacture or contract to manufacture contain conflict minerals that originated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) or other Covered Countries. We support the aims and objectives of the U.S. legislation on the supply of conflict minerals as stated in our Conflict Minerals Policy.

As a member of the United Nations Global Compact and a founding member of its LEAD Program, Symantec is committed to respecting human rights and expects its employees, contractors and suppliers to adhere to its Code of Conduct and Human Rights Policy.
We comply with U.S. government legislation known as FAR 52.222-50, "Combatting Trafficking in Persons," which codifies trafficking-related prohibitions for federal contractors and subcontractors.
Over the past year, we also worked to comply with the new UK Modern Slavery Act. The Act requires companies to issue a formal statement of how they are preventing human trafficking and slavery in their supply chains.
Symantec has a zero-tolerance policy and expects all employees and contractors to be well aware of the implications of violating any aspect of human-trafficking related activities. Employees and contractors can report potential violations of this policy to Symantec's EthicsLine.

Symantec also complies with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 requires retail sellers and manufacturers with annual worldwide gross receipts over $100 million doing business in the state of California to publicly disclose their efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from their direct supply chains. Symantec published a California Transparency in Supply Chains Act statement of disclosure.
Symantec recognizes the value and importance of diversity as a distinct business advantage. We have established a diverse network of suppliers to provide the support, services and products our company needs to operate successfully. We are committed to continually enhancing our methods of outreach to existing and potential new diverse suppliers and to identifying opportunities for their continued growth.
Symantec outsources 100 percent of the U.S. manufacturing of our consumer, availability, and enterprise software products to a certified Minority Business Enterprise/Small Business Enterprise, a subcontract that is valued at over four percent of Symantec's annual U.S. qualified spend on suppliers.
We engage with organizations such as the Procurement Strategy Council that promote supplier diversity and with diverse suppliers themselves to shape the overall direction of our program. We are also members of or sponsor the following organizations:
Approximately 40 percent of Symantec’s active suppliers in the company’s U.S. Operating Units are small or diverse suppliers.

WEEE Information for Symantec Customers and Recyclers
Under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive and implementing regulations, when customers buy new electrical and electronic equipment from Symantec they are entitled to:
Symantec has implemented suitable arrangements to allow customers to arrange the collection and recycling of obligated Symantec WEEE. Detailed instructions for customers will be documented on Symantec’s support webpages in due course and a link to the instructions will be provided on this page. As part of its compliance with the WEEE Directive, Symantec provides recycling information on request for all types of new equipment put on the market in Europe after August 13th 2005.
